Company
According to their site, Wolf’s Spirit Distillery was founded with the aim to share the best independent premium spirits. They launched Puncher’s Chance Kentucky Straight Bourbon in September of 2020 and operate out of Eugene, Oregon.
Production
According to their site, Puncher’s Chance uses a marriage of 5 and 6-year bourbon barrels to make a true Kentucky bourbon with a distinct taste and mass appeal.
Nose – 94/100
Intriguing nose with heavy caramel and hints of raisin, apricot, and cocoa.
Palate – 88/100
Initial caramel fades to a mixture of oak, cocoa, and cereal grains.
Finish – 89/100
Medium finish with notes of caramel and lingering oak, pepper, and spice.
Value – 86/100
This was a store pick of Puncher’s Chance, and I thought it was solid. But for $40, I probably wouldn’t buy another one. It has an interesting flavor profile, but not one that I would make a mainstay at my home bar.
Verdict – 89.25/100
We score each bourbon based on nose, palate, finish, and value.
Scoring System:
- Platinum – 95+
- Gold – 90 – 94
