BourbonInspector.com (herein referred to as “Bourbon Inspector”) was created from a love of all things bourbon, so we strive to positively contribute to the bourbon community through every aspect of our site.
Because of the nature of bourbon (being an alcoholic beverage) and the nature of this site (containing reviews of bourbon and bourbon accessories), we want to be transparent and authentic in everything we do.
The following are specific ways we strive to do just that:
Whiskey Reviews and Samples
All reviews are original and written by a member of the Bourbon Inspector team after tasting and researching each particular bourbon. We often accept samples from brands who want us to try and review their bourbon, but in these cases, the fact that we got free samples in no way influences the outcome of our review. The feedback we provide could be negative or positive depending on our experience. Any review in which samples were provided will have an accompanying disclosure.
Best Bourbon and Whiskey Lists
We have several articles listing the best bourbons/whiskies in a certain context (price, in a cocktail, etc). These articles are original and written by a member of the Bourbon Inspector team after tastings and research. No brand is able to compensate us in order to be added to this list or have their ranking change.
Advertising and Sponsorship
We accept paid advertising and sponsorship opportunities to help us cover costs and create more (and better content). We are very strict in our policies on who we let advertise their whiskies and related accessories so that we don’t create a conflict of interest and can maintain honesty and transparency. Therefore, any sponsored post, email, or other types of advertisements from a distillery or bourbon brand will be noted as such. These potential advertising partnerships will have no influence on how we rank or review a bourbon and we will not allow for any specific claims (like quality) within advertisements about a bourbon or bourbon accessory. These ads will be in a “matter of fact” fashion.
We also work with Google Adsense to allow other sites (not just related to bourbon) to advertise on Bourbon Inspector to help us cover costs. Currently, all display ads on our site are run through Adsense and we are not affiliated with any particular brand that advertises through this channel.
