Company
Founded in 2011, Chattanooga Whiskey became the first distillery in Chattanooga in over a century. In 2015, they began crafting their proprietary malt-forward style of whiskey called Tennessee High Malt in their experimental distillery. After years of experimenting, they released Chattanooga Whiskey 91 and Whiskey Cask 111 at their Riverfront Distillery.
Production
Aged in two different toasted and charred white oak barrels with Solera finishing that brings together nearly 100 barrels into a 4,000-gallon, charred, white oak Solera finishing barrel (which never goes empty).
Nose – 95/100
Caramel, brown sugar, light smokiness, malted grains
Palate – 95/100
Sweet (hints vanilla, caramel, honey, and brown sugar) with light spice.
Finish – 94/100
Spices, barley, caramel, oak
Value – 95/100
At $35, Chattanooga Whiskey 91 offers incredible value. The “Tennessee High Malt” whiskey is packed with flavor and tastes like an older bourbon even though it has only been aged for ~2 years. Compared to bourbons from other new distillers and other bourbons in its price-range, Chattanooga Whiskey 91 is an absolute steal.
Verdict – 95/100
