The brand has distinguished itself by winning multiple awards, including the prestigious #1 Consumer Choice Award at the 2021 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
Heaven’s Door offers a variety of premium whiskies, such as straight bourbon, double barrel whiskey, and straight rye whiskey.
Production
According to their site, “Heaven’s Door Straight Bourbon Whiskey is distilled and aged in Tennessee, for a minimum 6 years in new American oak barrels. The sour mash distillation process and non-chill filtered bottling allows this mature whiskey to remain consistent, as well as creating reliable flavor profiles that come from being aged in single story warehouses.”
Heaven’s Door Bourbon Review: Tasting Notes
Nose – 3.63/5
Sweet caramel and vanilla with just a touch of rye spice and oak. There’s also a strawberry / dark fruit note present. Pleasant and rich enough to be above average.

Palate – 3.63/5
Heavy caramel initially that fades into a caramel chew flavor with notes of vanilla. There’s slight heat and oak near the end of the sip to round things out. It also has a buttery mouthfeel. You can tell this is a Tennessee Whiskey, so it would make sense if George Dickel distilled this.

Finish – 3.63/5
The finish is (somewhat unexpectedly) smooth, long, and warm. It starts with heavy notes of toasted vanilla and black pepper, then moves into a dry oakiness. It’s very sweet and arguably the most dynamic part of the sip.

Value – 3.25/5
The standard Heaven’s Door bourbon is solid in every respect. It’s an easy-sipping, sweet pour that many will enjoy. I think it’s a touch over-priced at $55 for what it’s worth. You certainly won’t be disappointed with the product at that price, but I think $45 is a bit more realistic.
It reminds me of a more dynamic version of standard Jack Daniel’s (which again, would make sense with the rumors that it was distilled at George Dickel).
