A Bonded Bourbon That Rocks Its Own Label
Three Chord’s Hard Pressed Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon arrives at a turning point for the brand. In 2025, Three Chordunveiled a complete rebranding replacing its original uniform bottle designs with a distinct look for each expression—each label inspired by the music or mood it represents. Hard Pressed serves as part of that new identity, blending craftsmanship with a bold, record-sleeve “aesthetic”.
The bottle label pays tribute to Cordell Jackson, the Memphis rockabilly pioneer that founded Moon Records in the 1950s. She became the first woman known to produce, engineer, and release her own music. Her personality is said to be loud, self-made, and unafraid to stand alone.
This release also marks Three Chord’s first Bottled-in-Bond release, distilled and aged at Tennessee Distilling Group in Columbia, Tennessee.

Nose – 3.7/5
Green banana. Raisin bran cereal. Popcorn kernels that didn’t pop.
Strengths: Warm and grain sweetness. Classic Tennessee whiskey.
Why It’s Not Higher: Nose doesn’t build. Remains soft throughout.
Rating Justification: Pleasantly simple.
Palate – 3.8/5
Teaberry gum. Soft black pepper. Butterscotch.
Strengths: Balanced and flavorful. Gentle spice with light sweetness. The teaberry note adds a unique quality.
Why It’s Not Higher: Mid-Palate softens quickly.
Rating Justification: Consistent. A steady rhythm rather than a drum solo.
Finish – 3.6/5
Savory and sweet. Full mouthfeel. Long and warming.
Strengths: Coating and warm. A satisfying close that overperforms for the price.
Why It’s Not Higher: Slight dryness tempers the sweetness at the very end.
Rating Justification: Fitting for its proof and age.
Value – 4.2/5
At $35, Hard Pressed is an easy recommendation. It delivers Bottled-in-Bond credentials and is priced remarkably well and in the sweet spot to make for a daily sipper.
